Instructions:
Grab the handle of the stone or rod and hold it vertically in front of you and straight down
Rest the other end of the stone or rod on your work surface to have a clear view
Keep the heel of the knife blade against the stone or rod at around 20 degrees
As you move the knife down the stone or rod, bring it closer to your body by moving your arm back so that the steel makes contact with the entire edge from heel to tip
Hone the edge on each side, alternating sides with each stroke
